The worst part of the raises they give to DSS is that they are taking away from the Seniors who have worked and earned it!!! I do not mind waiting in line behind a senior at the grocery store, I do mind waiting (especially in the so called FASTLANE as the clerk needs to have a supervisor approve the items) for DSS buying groceries (steak, seafood etc.) I can't afford on my budget

Of course ataxpayer, when upwards of 80% of our property taxes fund both Medicaid and 'welfare', ie. TANF, WIC, etc.. That in itself should answer the raise question. I guess we're not sophisticated enough to understand just how difficult it is for politicians to constantly come up with creative ways to separate us from our money. Meanwhile, a lot of us believe Albany needs to come up with creative ways to let us KEEP our money. This is the response we get...'give us MORE money'. Up yours.

Simple, those in office realize there are more of them than you and a raise every year equals votes every year. See you at the polls in November.....

Many discussions on here lead to discussions about DSS...hmmm? Could it be DSS is one of our biggest problems? When will those in office realize it like we all do and start addressing it instead of throwing them raises year after year after year....

Tell them if they want to get on Dss they have to agree to be sterilized. They won't know what you mean anyway. Tell them there's a free case of beer in it.

themselves or the children they have. "Free" (on my dime) contraceptives people..no excuses. And the the religion excuse doesn't fly well when you have 5 children with 5 different last names.

For starters they need to stop "rewarding" these individuals by increasing their benefits each time they reproduce (every one to two years). They should be told - this is what you get and you will not get a "raise" if you have more children. Does the working individual get a raise each time they have a child? NO! You hear financially responsbile people saying "we would love to have another child not now". That "not now" means "we can't afford to provide for another child now". Responsible people change jobs, improve their skills etc. to receive a higher salary. Those "living off the system" bring another innocent child into the world to improve their "salaries". It's disgusting, and our current welfare system actually allows and "encourages" it by giving out more and more each time those collecting benefits makes the selfish decision to have another child when they have absolutely no means to support thems

Well I'm sorry to here that Ataxpayer. somethings has got to be done about all the people collecting assistance and the people bringing these children into the world which they don't care for, with no hope of making it passed a 5th grade education to collect assistance themselves, and so on , and so on when does it end.

*$275/month medicine

getreal - Medicaid already covers oral contraceptive but many choose not to use it. Why? More children equal more benefits. But now with BS, CDPHP, MVP ect. providing the contraceptives at no out-of-pocket cost means only one thing..increased premiums making it not free. We the taxpayers will (again) pay more in the end. Just like the opition to cover adult children to 26 has contributed to increased premiums, this too will result in another increase. My insurance has actually denied my $275/month I have been on for 6 years despite my doctor's documented request to continue it. Their reason - they need to cut cost. I have to go through 3 trials of 3 different medicines, go to the doctors every month to be monitored which requires taking time off from work, driving to the doctor, not to mention feeling horrible throughout these trials. Just a small taste of National Health Care I guess.

I would gladly pay for birth control. Maybe that would decrease the DSS filings. It should be put in the water.

little off the question, I just heard Obama say birth control will be free of no charge. Where will the money come from? Is he confused with the word free of no charge, because last I look someone will pay and I have a bad feeling that will be most of the middle class.

MrBob...Hard working and competent business people like yourself are the backbone of our economy. You deserve every penny you earn. You are not the problem. It is the crooks at Enron, scum of the earth Madoff, and investment and security fraud which, by ruining thousands of middle class lives, have wreaked havoc on the economy. Add to that the many grossly overpaid CEO's, whose salaries are not just high, they are off the charts when compared to other countries...their salaries and bonuses are grossly out of proportion to their value.

'Corporate Greed' seems to be the new whipping boy. There is greed in every aspect of our lives but consider this...My Company was a Sub-s Corporation. I can assure you I was personally responsible for EVERY aspect of my business from pencils to payroll to insurance(s) to 'Corporate' taxes. Therefore, (some) Corporations ARE people. People who work their butts off, pay taxes and promote the well being of their communities. If any of you think that going into business to make money is greed then there is no hope for you.

You say my simplistic posts. Generalizing stuff to make it appear that Obama has done anything right is just as simple. He has cost American lives in Afghanistan and without any lasting results. Afghanistan had very little to loose when we invaded and lost everything worth a cent in the first few months. Everything since then has been for nothing. Now out of Iraq? Maybe but with a huge vacuum that may implode that country into further violence, right or wrong that will not reflect well on our cut and run Obama tendency's. Not loosing jobs?? That may be correct but it mostly happened on the OBAMA watch and the unemployment rate tumbled while he cheered the massive wasteful healtcareless bill. He has done nothing but kick our troubles down the road with a massive price tag. Huge win for the democrats don't you think?

ho hum tot...your predictable posts are getting too boring to respond to...Bin Laden dead, out of Iraq and looks like Afghan soon(would have been sooner if not for Jr's Iraq mess) no longer losing 750,000 jobs/month....Bush or Obama??..yeah right, tough choice...

Really still not one single person ready to defend Obama and his failing policies... not a single yahooo from the democrats visionary? NOTHING to defend??? Well I agree with you then! Thank you for not trying to defend the totally inept not ever ready for prime time Obama! Lets get Debbie Wassermann Schultz she can spin it into a victory for ya all! She is the today version of Muhammed Saeed al-Sahaf? Remember him? There are no Americans on Iraq soil...

Dr's, lawyers and politicians... we can thank them for where we are today. if not for there warped work ethics.. the idea of getting paid for doing nothing wouldn't be a option.. in a perfect world!! one would have to prove they earned it. let alone earn a raise..

I am waiting for an action that our president claims responsibility for that he actually earned. There are a plethora of failures... ZERO wins. Nothing that he has exclusive rights to claim. But he and your liberal friends sure know the blame game extremely well. Just cant stand the receiving end.
