Why don't politicains give up the free health care they enjoy, and their spot in the pension plans before trying to blame and take from workers? Electeds have done NOTHING to earn those benefits but they never talk of biting the bullet and giving them up

I really get a kick out of reading the misguided souls dialog here, speaking of which, "Notgood" I notice you mentioned in one of your usual uneducated "I heard it on Fox news" diatribes that NY is ranked 38th...38th In what? If you're talking OVERALL ranking, please do some homework and let us know where the Anti-union "right to work" states are ranked (they are ALL ranked below NYS) so your argument (as usual) carries no weight

Funny Jon Stead is giving his big Breakfast "State of his County" speech at the Holiday Inn.... who's picking up the tab for this? Why can't the few sit in the BOS Chamber and listen to him try to pat himself on the back?

Let's fix Fulton County first then take over the state. When some joker whines and crys that he doesn't get as much money as someone in another county it's time for him to go! Jon Stead is a spend happy "Purchasing Clerk" that needs to be fired! Look at the recent budget that the Board of Stupidvisors did absolutely nothing to lower our taxes instead they gave Jonny boy the green light to SPEND SPEND SPEND. $30,000 scanner with a $600 throne for his buddy down the hall. New Tables, desks and chairs for others are at the top of his spend happy list. Why is the county broke? Ask Jonny Stead why he just spends! How about some guy in the treasurers office sitting at his computer looking at family pictures while people wait in line? VOTE next time and break up the party these clowns have enjoyed for too long!

Only in a small world of absolutes would that make sense. Reread my posts...something about you being part of the problem, then extrapolate. Nice try though.

MrBOB from your calculations the state and county workers are not the problem.

So than you agree the majority of the waste is SCHOOL tax and WELFARE/MEDICAID. So why attack the regular workers? Haven't seen a school budget voted down and haven't seen too many elections around here opposed. That tells me everyone is happy. There isn't even a second political party here. You need change, stop crying and do something about it.

Allhope...Before you get comfortable with our collective ignorance allow me to correct a few things, unfunded state and county mandates(both welfare and medicaid) account for approx. 85% of our town/cnty tax bill, not 35%. ALL school tax goes to the school district you are in, not 30% of our property taxes, its more like 40-50% of the total of the combined. So with a mere 15% to run our town and county we are no longer able to properly service the taxpaying resident property owners who just happen to foot the bill for this wealth redistribution nonsense.

reform accross the board. restructure so that "common sence" was the rule. not greed. what good has the concept of MORE!! done us? I want the simple life back. we have way to many empty factories. union or not, to be sitting back complaining of why. laying blame without accountability? fix the machine or replace it with a better one. vote next time around maybe?

Ask Mexico, China and Dominican Republic how it's going without unions. Clearly you don't know why NY is ranked 38th- find out. Can't only be the unions. One reason is A, NY has one of the highest pay out in DSS. People from other states and countries come to NY. you can go immediately on the dole. You wouldn't like a world with no unions. They are not perfect and reform is needed but your blame is misplaced.

Unions are so good, is that why New York is ranked 38th in the United States. What ever, All Unions must go.

Not Good- society can get by without everyone. We can all be replaced. And anyone can do your job too. I have no problem if someone wants to get rid of all the public jobs. The ignorance is where everyone here places the blame. Do some research. It's not the workers that actually do the jobs. It's the management. Does every school need a Superintendent? Do you know what's in your schools Superintendents contract? you might be surprised. Do the Judges need a 23 million dollar apartment building in Albany to house them a couple of months a year? Does our Governor need a car and people to drive him/her? Can teachers work more than 180 days? Look at your tax bill and see and ask where the money goes. Again find someone to plow your roads, clear/fix the sidewalks, watch the prisoners, catch the criminals, put out the fires, pave the roads. Figure out how the get the DDS folks to stop having kids and get a job. I have education and I have skills I can find other work. Rather than complain r

All and getreal- forgot to add see we can get by with out you and your unions, it's us the tax payer paying the bill you can't do with out. The ignorance is on your side, we can get anybody to do your job and be happy with doing it, Unions are not needed anymore.

I sometimes think that every single new electronic gadget is created mainly because the makers KNOW that every school in the country is going to want to buy one for every one of their students no matter who they bankrupt and they will cry crocodile tears at budget time "for the good of the student" and down with the tax payer.

Too much ignorance. Sure unions have reached a point where they don't even know anymore what to argue for. But without unions there would be no checks and balances. look up your history on labor unions. Bottom line 35% of Fulton county budget goes to DSS. Nearly 30% of your property taxes goes to school budget (not state or County workers) Elected officials recieve FULL retirement benefits after 1 term in office. Continue to pass your school budgets. Continue to elect the same lame elected officials who you believe when they say it's the state and county workers. And continue to support all those who DON'T work at all , have more children and count on you to get to work everyday. Blame us all you want, we work, we pay our bills and our taxes. Economy was caused by the bankers and our federal government allowing the banks to play games with the mortgage industry.

The state and county workers have steadily watched their benefits be taken away too. We too have to pay more. I don't make 65K, I make far less with a substantial educational backround. And let me say for the record if there is one, I am no way complaining. I'm just merely exercising my right to say what I feel as are all of you!

New, I earn over 65k per year in the private sector and have steadily watched my benefits wilt and have to contribute more as well as pay higher taxes year over year to support the "system". I have traveled across this country and outside of it and do not understand how states with lower taxes can be better maintained than NY, one of the highest taxing states in the nation. I don't drive forklifts either and I have a college education with multiple degrees and I am leaving this state as soon as it is feasible.

I'm not at all surprised by the comments here. "Mr. Fulton County" - a 53 year old, $11.50/hour forklift operator is mad at the world because a public sector computer programmer with a Master's in Computer Science earns more than he does. If you chose to go through life with no education and/or marketable job skills, you have only yourself to blame for being limited to unskilled, low wage jobs. Skilled/Professional jobs with the State already pay significantly less than similar private sector jobs. The pension, benefits and job security are what attract qualified candidates to the public sector. Reduce them and no one will want to work as an engineer, accountant or programmer at the State when they can earn 30% more in the private sector. I do agree that low/no skill State jobs (laborer or entry level clerk) tend to pay more than similar private sector jobs.

The problem with the public sector is when times were good they gave away the farm with contracts laden with perks that were destined to eventually be unfundable. Couple that with number of state workers collecting a huge paycheck/ benefits/ pension to sit on their a@# in an office doing nothing and it was inevitable it was going to collapse. Just look at seethroughny and type in a local retired teacher you know etc... and how much they are collecting for life (with raises!!!)

Mr. Bob has all the answers and it's amazing that with intelligence like that he has not been tapped to run our country. Clearly he knows exactly what the problem is. What I don't get is why this area hasn't turned it around since you know exactly how to fix it. You have Walmart-a great anti union establishment, why hasn't that savior made this place perfect? you attack the lowest union workers who only want a fair shake, in this "hazard" county your "bosses" and Supervisors would use plitical patronage and nepotism to fill all jobs (which is done limitedly b/c of unions) and youd have pure incompetence. Once again it's the families that have been in charge for 100 years afraid of losing control. I'm sure with you running it everything would be perfect-go for it.
