Does this mean that the Legislature will now be taking a drop in pay? You know it won't be coming out of their checkbook. Won't be coming out of mine either.

@JohnSteady I hope with all sincerity that you do hit the mega. At least one of us would be able to get out of this awful state. I should have stayed gone when I left to begin with many years ago. But family has a funny way of drawing someone back.We are*******if we do and*******if we don't.

If the state does gain any revenue they need to cut spending as well until there is no deficit. Millionaires have all kinds of loop holes and means to reduce their tax expenses. So time will tell if this helps. Maybe the loopholes should be closed by a flat tax.

I'm no Cuomo fan!... especially with how he's shafted upstate rural school districts...and yes, the NYS legislature has been dysfunctional! But in this specific instance, take a look at the details of the increased rate on the fat cats...it's on personal income and it's minimal!!...and that's only ONE aspect of the bill.... it also provides tax breaks for manufacturers. It passed the Senate 55-0...even though time will tell if they finally did something right, one thing is certain, the projected 3.5 billion dollar deficit can NOT be closed by budget cuts alone.

This decision, like the vast majority of decisions affecting New York State's business climate over the past 40 years, is antithetical to promoting and upgrading business within the state. Yes, a number of "mllionnaires" have recently fled the state and relocated their prime offices elsewhere for tax purposes. They are sending a strong message to the State which it has constantly ignored - how thick-headed can our elected representatives be!!?? Unfortunately, we've seen the results of their unthinking lockstep-voting and obeisance to the Senate and Assembly whose governance, by far, must be the worst of the 50 states. RIP, New York State - you are toast, and Governor Cuomo will be unable to fix you.

Doesn't matter who they tax more, they will never have enough, because they can't spend it right. When will people really see the truth, Rich, middle class our elected officials are more crooked than the crooks. Everything they say is so far from the truth and most get sucked into it. Look around you nothing is really changing but they will tell you it is.

Max exodus, no. Smart money moved on, years ago. Ive heard of a place called Manhattan. I heard a few rich folks still live there. If the middle class is thinking of packing it in, what do you suppose the millionaires are thinking?

I doubt there will be a mass exodus of millionaires from NYS because of the ever so slight tax increase that is being proposed...and it is a barely noticeable increase on personal income that will have no affect on the job market. It has been about 10 years since the millionaire and billionaire club had their tax rate lowered.... as a result, please tell me how the economy has benefited??? Instead we are returning to one of the main causes of the Great Depression...The gap between the socioeconomic classes. Google the Revenue Act of 1926 and see how it increased the gap betwn the rich and the middle class, making the economy more unstable and helping to pave the way for the disaster of 1929. As some here have erroneously suggested, this has less to do with laziness or jealousy....it has more to do with greed and incompetence with ALL politicans on ALL sides, combined with corrupt bankers and Wall St. financiers...While the middle class continues to get squeezed and the poverty rate s

@ laker.... whether or not you'll ever admit it, money has ALWAYS trickled down to the middle class. Tell us one time you've even heard of anyone getting a job from a bum, (maybe besides "community organizers). I, myself, have always worked for a rich guy.....

Keep "getting even" with the job creators in this state. Soon enough there won't be any to worry about. They'll all be in states smart enough to appreciate them.

What Millionaires? They all live in New Jersey! Fulton County BOS must think we are millionaires by passing that lame budget that they "Worked So Hard" on! $30,000 scanner, $600.00 throne and the list is endless but nobody seemed to have read the back of the budget. Stead loves handing out expensive gifts to his buddies! I wonder what he bought the Board of Stupidvisors that gave him his FAT raise? We can only hope another county attacks and takes control and throw Jonny and his puppets out of work!

I doubt there are many millionaires left to read the Leader Herald any more. If you are one Please Shrug! Close your business and move out of NY. Stop saving these enviers from the fate they so richly deserve. The husk of a city that remains of Gloversville is a monument to envy and government force. If the majority can't see it now they never will or what's worse, they never wanted to. Discover the author of these words: 'We are on strike, we the men of the mind.'

How long do we have to pay for the awful way the pioneers of this country treated the Indians? Those who were treated badly have long since passed away, those that remain never suffered a thing. Everyone should be treated equal...Indians included. Make those citizens that do not pay taxes actually pay taxes and the money problems are over...sticking it to those who chose to work hard instead of not work at all is not the answer...unless your a foolish liberal.

Looks like 75% of responders have fallen for the class warfare rhetoric. How can you be so easily duped?? Those poor little sheep have lost their way because of envy. Interesting how these sheeple manage to blame everyone else for their shortcomings rather than their own lack of initiative. Work hard, play hard, live easy and you'll have a much more harmonious outcome.

tiger69bikes, well, far from being rich, nor am I on welfare, but I said no because who is anyone to penalize someone by taxing them for more money just because they are rich? They are rich for a reason. They worked hard for that money. Not our fault that those of us who are not rich were either too stupid, lazy or for what ever reason not able to become rich. So why fault them for their fortune or our misfortune? As far as the comments about the Indians..leave them alone..haven't we done enough to them by taking their land away from them? Give them some respect, this was their land before yours or didn't you get that far in school to know that?
